I have recently received several baobab seeds. Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me on how to germinate and grow them?
Thanks for any information at all

Dear Thread:
I have been growing Baobab for several years and have found the best way to germinate the seeds is to place many seeds in a single medium sized pot (plant seeds about 1 to 1 1/2 inches deep) and place it in a sunny location keeping the soil relatively moist. Then be very very patient. Once a seed germinates, I transplant each one into it's own pot. Using this process the first sprout took about two weeks and the last one to germinate took about 4 years.
I have tried cutting a hole in the seed case to speed up the process; however, I have found that the seed has a hard time spliting the seed case and I ended up performing surgery to save the tree. The only other problem I have had is keeping animals from eating the seeds. I use moth balls and hot pepper.
Good Luck!
