Hullo! Yep, it's confirmed, a swindler/bonsai dealer who often exploits the confidence of his customers (especially bonsai enthusiasts in Mindanao) has done it again and this time during the recently held Kadayawan Festival in Davao City.
A friend and respected Manila-based journalist was the latest victim of a shady character named FELIX ALMONTE (attached herewith is a picture of Mr. Almonte borrowed from Davao City Police District rogue's gallery). It happened between August 10 and culminated on the 20th. My journalist friend reportedly bought three small-sized bantigue but was asked by Mr. Almonte to let the bigger one be "displayed" at the Kadayawan exhibit. My friend agreed since he thought that the bantigue wouldn't go anywhere. He got a surprised of his life when he returned to the venue last August 20 the bantigue was no longer there, including Mr. Almonte. According to sources, the said bantigue is now in the hands of Mr. Bong Baron of Kidapawan City.
I'm so glad now that I have refused to patronize this noted bonsai con artist FELIX ALMONTE and the likes, and indeed kept myself away from them and refused to deal with their sweet talk.
Be forewarned. This guy has reportedly "operated" a stall inside "Minflo Garden” in Bajada, Davao City, Philippines.
