local bonsai species (bonsai con especies autoctonas de tu pais)
Here's a topic for discussion. People who are in the tropics doing bonsai, are there any local species that you use for bonsai that aren't known internationally? Post pictures of your bonsai in these species.

Whats the scientific name for Blue Bells. I got mine as well here in the philippines and would want to know how to take care of it. any help please on this specie? thanks, jojo |

Hi Jojo,
As far as I know blue bells only grow in some part of Indonesia and Philippines. The scientific names is not very sure yet, Some people said: Desmodium sp. But I am not sure about that. It grows with the micture of sand and humus, 6 by 4. Budi |

Some species from Mexico
Hi Saint, as you know I have only been in the tropical region for three years, must of my collections are from construction sites in which the local wildlife is being literaly demolish. The threes I collected include
Parmetiera millspaughiana Cuphea gaumery Dalea carthagenensis Senna pallida Caseria emarginata Enriquebeltriana crenatifolia Haematoxylum campechianum Gymnopodium floribundum Diphysa cartagenensis Mimosa bahamensis Euphorbia schlechtendalii Bursera schlechtendalii Malphigia punicifolia Guettarda elliptica Duranta alba lysiloma latisiliqum Randia truncata Randia obcordata Thouinia paucipentata Sayda yucatenenesis Machaonia lindeniana Lantana involucrata Bursera simaruba Randia longiloba Havardia albicans There are a few others that I have not yet identefied, the trees are still long way from being shown, well maybe in a few months. Tell me what species do you have arround? |
